Ayurvedic Treatments

Ayurveda is the traditional healing system of India and the oldest system of natural health care, in continuous practice, in the world. It is based on the laws of nature. It is a comprehensive, naturalistic, healing system which deals with the body, mind and spirit. It is easily applied and orientated around prevention. It aims to raise the general level of health by creating balance in the system and by strengthening the function and tissues of the mind and the body. As such it treats the underlying causes of disharmony and disease and does not work at the level of suppressing symptoms. It treats the person, not the disease.

Ayurveda includes many different forms of treatment- the majority of which the individual has to take responsibility for. These treatments include herbal medicine, dietary and lifestyle changes, body work (Yoga asana and massage), psychology and spirituality (meditation, pranayama and mantra), detoxification and rejuvenation therapies.

Ayurveda teaches that most disease is caused by living in a way that is out of alignment with Nature and our individual constitution – this includes issues like inappropriate diet and lifestyle (stress, pollution etc) and lack of exercise.

Ayurvedic Treatments are very relaxing and shouldn’t be rushed. Please take 30 minutes extra time to unwind before and rest after the treatment.

Different types of treatments should be performed by good practitioners

Shirodhara

the continual pouring of warm oil to the forehead (3rd eye) is an effective treatment for reducing stress and expanding one’s consciousness. It is done in a quiet setting with the individual lying on his/her back.
The mind, body and spirit are intimately connected, and Shirodhara, by calming the mind, relaxes the entire physiology.
Shirodhara is especially effective for those experiencing anxiety, insomnia, depression, and stress in general. Stress, according to Ayurveda, is a state of imbalance.
Sahasrara (the crown chakra) is the seat of the pituitary and pineal gland. As we know, the pituitary gland is one of the main glands of the endocrine system.
Shirodhara stimulates the pituitary gland which helps bring hormonal balance. Thus, Shirodhara, because of its calming and nurturing effect, is beneficial for anyone.
Through its balancing effect on the different body-types and its stress relieving capabilities, Shirodhara thus enables the natural expansion of consciousness, thereby leading to experience your natural state of bliss. Time: 60 min.

Shiro-Abhyanga

Head and Neck Massage is performed while the patient is in a sitting position. This increases the oxygen supply to the brain along with the circulation of the cerebrospinal fluid. It increases the level of life energy. Stimulation of certain Marma points can help dryness, loss of hair, create alertness and improve memory.
Time: 35 min

Abhyanga

Oil Massage
designed to deeply penetrate the skin, relax the mind-body, break up impurities and stimulate both arterial and lymphatic circulation. This
effect enhances the ability for nutrients to get to starved cells and for the removal of stagnant waste.
Time: 60 min

Nasya

Nasal Administration
The nose is the doorway to the brain and it is also the doorway to consciousness. The nasal administration of medication is called nasya. Prana, the life force as nerve energy, enters the body through the breath taken in through the nose. The seat of Prana is in the brain and maintains sensory and motor functions. Prana also governs mental activities, memory, concentration and intellectual activities.
Deranged prana creates defective functioning of all these activities and produces headaches, convulsions, loss of memory and reduced  sensory perception. Thus nasal administration, nasya, is indicated for prana disorders, sinus congestion, migraine headaches, convulsions and certain eye and ear problems. Excellent before and after air travel.
