Tips for healthy life style

Hyper-acidity is mainly due to worry, anxiety and tension on one hand and too much spicy food on the other. One should try to remove the root cause of a problem rather than trying to solve the symptoms of the disease.

Remedies:

1. Chew 8-10 pudina leaves (fresh mint leaves) early in the morning on an empty stomach for one month. Having raw onions along with your meals will also keep acidity at bay.

2. Regular consumption of fresh mint juice can also help you get rid of acidity.

3. Avoid too much tea, coffee, fried and fermented food as they stimulate acid production.

4. Take a glass of water, add a pinch of baking soda and drink it at one go. It gives immediate relief.

5. Take a glass of warm water, add a pinch of hing (asafoetida) and have it every morning.

6. If you are looking for an immediate relief, have a bowl of yoghurt. It is one of the most effective home remedies for acidity.

7. Eat a serving of cucumber or watermelon 4-5 times in a day.

8. Chew 7-8 basil (tulsi leaves) leaves to get relief from acidity and gas.

I offer two solutions. The first involves carrot and cabbage juice. This involves washing and slicing one big carrot and 1/4 kilo of cabbage into fine small pieces. After this, you have to osterize the carrots and cabbages with two glasses of water. Next, you must strain this and add a tablespoonfull of sugar. Keep this in the refrigirator to cool. Drink one glass of the mixture around 30 minutes before meals and when gastric pain occurs. The second herbal medication for hyperacidity involves olive oil. Here, you have to take a teaspoon around 30 minutes before meals. Be wary though as olive oil increases the cholesterol in the blood level.

Beside the above mentioned asana and pranayama practice of yoga nidra, concentration and meditation gives the best result.
It is a good practice to seat in Vajrasana from five, ten to fifteen minutes after meals. This strengthens digestive power so, flatulence and constipation doesn’t result. This completely removes the main cause for production of acids.

The process of digestion is performed properly and perfectly by pranayama.
Pranayama relaxes the organs in the belly. Adequate supply of blood reaches the organs. The control of breathing adds special capacity to the working efficiency of the internal secreting glands.

Shitali pranayama, Shitkari pranayama are capable of reducing the burning sensation caused by strong acid liberated in the stomach.   Strong acid gets washed out in Kunjal kriya and we can save our self from getting ulcer.

Note
If this Pranayama is practised before the sunrise it is more advantageous.

Compared to ladies, males suffer from this difficulty much more. Ladies hardly suffer from hyperacidity till they are regularly menstruating.
Those having their blood group ‘0’ are more susceptible to hyperacidity
Those who eat after enough of chewing, the food gets mixed with the liquid saliva produced in the mouth and such mixed food then reaches stomach. Such people hardly suffer from acidity So many people who eat food, which is slippery and smooth, so that hardly they chew it; such people always get ulcers.Bhastrika Pranayama:

Sit in the lotus pose, take deep breath in and breathe out the air completely. Do this for about 2 minutes to 5 minutes max. Along with providing relief from acidity, few other benefits of Bhastrika are curing of thyroid, tonsils etc.

Sheetali Pranayama:

Sit in the Padma Asana or Vajra Asana. Protrude the tongue and try rolling it sideways till it takes shape of a pipe. Now suck air and keep air in lungs as long as possible. Exhale through both nostrils. Along with being a treatment of acidity it provides immediate relief from acidity too.

Tips: * Drink coconut water as it soothes gastric irritation.

* Take a teaspoon of freshly grated ginger root and add to a cup of boiling water to it. Stir for 10 minutes and drink it. Ginger helps to relax the muscles that line the walls of the oesophagus, so that the stomach acid does not get pushed upwards.

* Mix half a teaspoon of soda bicarbonate in a few drops of lemon juice added to half a cup of warm water and drink.
